“We are Brad and Meag, creators of Squirrel Stash Nuts. Friends since we were 12, we have recently combined our journey and passions to create a product of our love to help us chase our dreams!"
Squirrel Stash Nuts are roasted and maple cinnamon glazed with love in small batches near the beautiful city of Burlington, VT. To stay consistent with our own sustainable beliefs we carefully wrap each Stash in a recyclable, renewable or COMPOSTABLE materials!
Almonds get nicely coated and deliver the biggest crunch. With a slight smoky flavor when roasted, almonds have a taste that makes them difficult to beat. These are Meags favorite nut last time we checked due to their crunch and dynamic taste.
Fun fact: Almonds provide more protein than your typical egg with even less cruelty.
Squirrel Stash Nuts is dedicated to providing everyone with a healthy and delicious snack at a fair price made from high quality ingredients, sourced locally when possible and packaged in materials that generate less waste which are more sustainable for the Earth - like clear compostable tree fiber bags and labels made from rocks. It is also their mission to be more than a great tasting snack but to be a leading example in how businesses can prosper from putting consumers, partners, community health, and the Earth before profits by making heartfelt decisions!Packaging with a Purpose
We work hard to be a good example to other companies out there and offer a product which comes in a package which is earth conscious without sacrificing the products quality. We ourselves strive everyday to reduce, reuse and recycle; and so should the company we have created.
Our small stashes were developed for the retail market and recently reached a major milestone: being made from completely compostable packaging. That’s right, our bag, label and product are ALL compostable and can go back into the earth to help foster a more sustainable Earth. The bag is made from a clear tree fiber, the label from fair trade certified wildgrass and hemp paper and our product from all natural (amazing delicious) ingredients!
During local farmer's markets or events our nuts are served in the way we first sold our stashes and in the traditional way that glazed nuts are typically served in Germany, a paper cone. They are made from paper, a renewable and recyclable material and can also be reused as a single use beverage cup or a miniature gnome hat after enjoying-we'll leave that decision up to you..
Our sampler stash comes in an attractive and practical tin for those who want to share some Squirrel Stash Nuts in style. These tins are made in the USA from steel, which is an infinitely recyclable material. The labels are made from either a corn based PLA or paper. After enjoying your variety of nuts you can renew the use of the tin or recycle it!
Made for those that love to share their nuts, this one pound stash is packaged in a compostable bag along with our tree free compostable labels. Even the product window and liner are made from a corn based PLA!
It was awesome to have Gina and her crew over to see how we integrate all that love into our maple cinnamon glazed nuts! Check out her interview HERE!October 20th, 2014 We Did It! Completely Compostable Packaging!
Since the start of Squirrel Stash Nuts, Brad and Meag have made it part of their mission to source earth conscious packaging which lessen our negative impact on the environment, with the ultimate goal of having a completely compostable package. That goal was finally achieved when we got the first batch of our new labels which are made from tree-free, fair trade certified wildgrass and hemp paper! Now our product labels and bags used for all of our Small Stashes are made from ASTM certified compostable materials! Our friends over at the solid waste district, who turn our weekly kitchen scraps into compost, are stoked with our efforts of being the first local food-based product to achieve such an accomplishment!July 23, 2014 BUZZED The first ever TRUE BEER ROASTED and glazed nut!!

We are Brad and Meag, the co-founders and co-operators of this Burlington, Vermont based company. Friends since the age of 12 and now hopelessly in love, together we have created deliciously dynamic roasted and maple cinnamon glazed almonds, cashews, peanuts, and pecans.
It all started a few years back in the little beach town of York, Maine; the town where we first shared a similar product. However, this particular year we were unable to find this much loved snack and that's when we got the nutty idea to bring roasted and glazed nuts to Burlington, Vermont. Immediately after returning home to Vermont we got to work experimenting with ingredients in our own kitchen. Being relatively new Vermont residents we knew we had to honor the Green Mountain state by adding the taste of the Vermont Sugar Maple and with that we created a product that was both delicious and addictive.
By the time the holiday season approached we had a product and a name we were more proud to stand by than we ever expected. At that time we knew we were ready to test our product out on friends and family in Vermont and back in our home town of Wilbraham, Massachusetts. The reactions were unanimous; not only did we love our product but so did everyone we shared them with! After the holidays it was back to the drawing board to make a plan to get our nuts into the mouths of the Burlington area (and beyond).
That plan quickly came to life with the amazing support from the state of Vermont; to repay that community and the rest of the World we strive for sustainability every day. That includes conducting compassionate business practices and using Earth friendly packaging such as our biodegradable bags and labels made from rocks. We encourage you to always reduce, reuse, and recycle whenever possible.
